Quoox® announces One Gym, One Tree Initiative
Future focussed gym management software provider commits to plant one Giant Sequoia tree
for every client – to offset CO2 emissions and to protect the future of the planet.
Colchester, UK: Today, Quoox Ltd., provider of next-generation gym management software,
announced its One Gym, One Tree initiative. For every gym or studio that subscribes to the Quoox
product, the company will plant one Giant Sequoia tree in their name.
According to analysis of University of Maryland data by WRI, more than 12 million hectares of tree
cover in the tropics was lost in 2020 alone. Most alarmingly, that included 4.2 million hectares of
previously undisturbed primary tropical forests.
This loss represents a crisis for climate stability and biodiversity conservation, as well as a humanitarian
disaster and lost economic opportunity. Carbon dioxide levels today are higher than at any point in at
least the past 800,000 years.
In the UK, the average person’s lifetime CO2 footprint is 520 tonnes. As a SaaS (Software as a Service)
provider, Quoox hosts its servers in multiple data centres across the globe. Each new customer that
Quoox subscribes brings an increased usage of server resources and, thus, an increase in CO2 emissions.
Mirroring their mission to deliver gyms & studios with a software solution for the future, Quoox has
committed to plant one Giant Sequoia tree for every Quoox client.
To deliver on this promise, Quoox has partnered with “One Life One Tree – The Sequoia Project”.
Chris Windram, co-founder of Quoox commented, “the planet we inhabit is 4.5 billion years old. Our
time upon it may be miniscule, but our impact is hugely significant. At Quoox, we spend a lot of time
focussing on the future of our industry - particularly health & wellbeing. The health of our planet is an
essential part of that, and it is our responsibility to leave it in a fit state for future generations.”
Henry Emson, founder of One Life One Tree commented, “We are hugely excited to be partnering
with Quoox. This is the perfect example of a UK environmentally minded business who wanted more
from their carbon offset strategy. We are working with their team to plant the Quoox Sequoia Grove,
with one Giant Sequoia for each of their customers. We can’t wait to have them join us and roll up
their sleeves to come and plant their trees and watch them grow for years to come providing a
tangible connection with nature and starting a powerful carbon capture legacy that can last a
millennia or more.”
About Quoox Ltd.: Quoox was founded by gym owners, Ben Brand & Chris Windram to provide a
single, cohesive alternative to the market dominant software packages and numerous bolt-ons, which
did not necessarily reflect the way modern training gyms & studios operate. Quoox has customers in the UK;
Ireland; and the US and will be entering the Australian market imminently.
About One Life One Tree: Founded by Henry Emson, the goal of One Life One Tree is to enable
people to become part of the solution rather than the problem. They offer a simple but effective way
of balancing our lives with the environment (plastics and chemicals not included!) Whilst solar panels
and hybrid cars reduce emissions and are hugely worthwhile, planting trees reverses CO2 emissions
entirely.
